I am glad to say that my exeperiment has finally come to fruition. My cai is built and has been test run with exciting results. The results show a definite increase in seat if the pants up and torque. The throttle response is better. And best of all, it's not loud like K&N... Much more of an acceptabe sound. I'll be posting all the details and pics soon
 can't wait. mine sounded like crap

Ditto!! I'm curious how it sounds too!!

dont mean to bump this old post but i might be taking the caliber to the dyno this weekend (sadly its a mustang dyno not a dynojet) but if time permits i'm gonna get a run with my CAI to see if theres any gains over stock, i dont currently run it due to the noise it makes but if it performs better i'll definately revisit the idea and see if i can fix the resonance issue.

I have a K&N CAI up front (with a Borla cat-back exhaust in the rea)r, and I noticed the intake sits right under the hood driver's left of center. I wonder would it be worth punching a hole thought the hod and putting a scoop there? It would site asymetrically, but it should funnel cold air directly to the filter. I guess I'd have to put in some louvers to deflect rain, but does this sound like something that would work?

The better question is: Is it worth destroying your hood without knowing if it would work? Since nobody here has done it; nobody has an answer that would remove all doubt. If you want to experiment you should see about getting a salvaged hood. That way if it doesn't work you can put yours back on.

i have vis fiberglass hood with functional scoops, one in the center and 2 side vents to blow out hot air. and yes, there is a difference because obviously the hole in the hood alows faster colder air directly onto the filter while the vents push out hot engine air. am i satisified with it? sure. is it noticable to tell? no. But thats not why i bought the hood. i got it for the looks and good price :D

Im in the midst of planning out how to use the existing AI box to adapt a K&N CAI filter to it. Should give the same results as the kit, as well as reduce the noise (being as it will still be a closed system using the existing air box).
