Rain??!? What's that? I've heard tell of it...

Seriously, 11th consecutive day of 100+F degree temps with a level 3 drought. We're currently 27" below where we should be for rainfall this year.

Joe
yep it lasted only 20min, enough time so i could not do it because i have to get ready to go out tonight!!!

well its a nice day here, so i installed the K&N intake! had to cut about 2" were the heat shied hits the dc strut bar, still looks how it should. checked everything.. went for the test drive and .... damn this thing is very loud now! too loud i think. i have not taken of the battery cover air intake yet, maybe that will make it sound better:confused: anyone else have the r/t with this K&N filter sound so loud?
will have to get some pics up soon.

Yes, I have it and it is loud. One reason is that it faces the firewall, another is that you need to give it a day or two, the sensors will adjust and it will quiet down a little.;)

i am going to try it with out the heat shield on, and with the right side of the factory airbox only to see if there is any difference  i do not like that sound! i had on on all of my cars and that the worst....:i_rolleyes:

Geez. Anyone with a used setup they want to get rid of because it's too noisy can send it my way.

My sports bike's forced-inlet RAM air has gotten me used to that kind of rattle:

That air intake is right ahead of my face when I drive and I get to hear the engine's air aspiration. It's a rush.

Oh heck! Just ride along!.

I'd leave it as is for a few days, then tinker with it........you got to give the sensors a chance to adjust.;)

taken out the battery did make it much easier to put in thanks..
just not to happy about how loud it is!:( i wounder if the metal Mopar one is the same, and as you can see where i had to cut the heat shield some for the strut bar but that was no problem.

From what I have heard they are all loud, so don't go changing it to another brand. One thing that will happen is you'll get better gas mileage, because you'll featherfoot from now on to keep the noise down.;) :D

I did mutiple tests, and have not found it to improve performace, or gas milage any, therefore the added noise to me was no worth the added sound. I do have a Magnaflow catback exaust, which helps performance a little, and sounds good IMO.

I have removed the K&N CAI, installed the factory air box, reset the comptuer again, and made a few test runs for others to listen to the sound.

I have installed the Mopar high flow air filter as a compromize.

Here's a video of me doing a test on my camera, and the K&N CAI. At the end of the video, it's just me reacting in a funny way when I spotted a police car (charger) up ahead of me......LOL! I was worried he might have caught me going a little faster than I should have.

Yeah, mine sounded loud like that when getting on it or climbing a hill in cruise until I installed the Magnaflow cat-back exhaust system. Then the tone deepened to a nice golden, mellow hum and it's not as loud any more. Could be it's fighting the stock restrictive exhaust system.

Very funny!!! I can't believe how I reacted myself! I was doing almost 65 in a 45, so when I saw him, well.........you know!

where did you buy the dynomat? I was wondering if i could buy that stuff at an auto shop store or do i have to buy it online?

Thanks,
Mike (RTFD):worshippy:
I cannot remember, I went to their site, and found what I wanted and did a google search for the cheapest price. I think I got it on e-bay.

Hi everyone, i just bought the mopar CAI and it was a breeze to install, i would highly recommend it for anyone trying to decide over K and N. I had some major installation probelms with a K and N. So I had to return it and get a mopar one...took me 20 minutes to install.

So outta the 3 available "cold air" intakes...which do you people mainly prefer?

Mopar (since its a Dodge made performance part)
K&N (one of the top selling intake company)
AEM (one of the top selling performance company)

Personally I'm staying away from Mopar because its $$$!!! The K&N looks/sounds good but its black!! The AEM would be nice to have seeing as my car is silver :p

I like MY real free flow cold air intake...

I removed the internal baffel and added a Mopar Performance (Rebadged K&N?) drop in filter. Draws all it's air from outside the engine compartment, so it's getting a much cooler dose of air. With no noise dampeners it's louder than stock but not as loud as an open cone filter by any means. You hare it when you step into it but it's not the omnipresent roar the open filters produce.

K&N!!! it allows you to keep the Battery/intake cover, and is the closest design to having a true CAI.
