I probably could down the road...but right now I need my car...I leave for spring training.the 28th so I need a working running car in the next few weeks... never thought I would take this long...but it is what it is. It'll work this way so its the way I have to do it at the moment

that makes sense then

125mph is going to sneak up real quick though :D

I think I thought of a name tag for your car: Caliber FRT4: Frankenstein RT

Can't wait for you to get your car done.

nice build! how much did the srt4 motor run you? I apologize i skimmed through the 10pgs
the motor was $1600 w/ turbo wiring harness, ECU, Clutch and SRT cluster, got it from a member on calibersrt4(DOT)net from a wrecked CSRT....its all the little things if you are even going to attempt this...which i dont recommend...I already had an intercooler...piping FIC, and all that to make it work.....if are are thinking about doing this...be preparred to pay ALOT of labor and a lot of little parts (that aren't cheap.... heres an idea for you if you have an N/A Caliber w/ manual trans b/c CVT would make it impossible to do any kind of work like this...

the minimum needed with N/A Cali
FIC $300
intercooler $600+
piping $250-500
tuning $500-750
Injectors $500+
High pressure Fuel Pump $400
turbo $1200 +
oil lines for turbo $300
gauges $500 +
Pistons and rods to handle boost $1000+
SRT clutch or custom made $700+
FOR A GRAND TOTAL in parts of about $5100-$6500 WITHOUT labor

and if you want to do a swap...
SRT4 engine $1500 average w/o turbo
turbo $800+

then LABOR Average $75-120/hr

GOOD LUCK....if i would i could do it all over..just trade in for an SRT4...my work was dont before the SRT came out and if i didnt have so much $ sunk into it already...i would have an srt4....if you wanted to go to the shop that did my setup originally..they now charge (for the same work i had done) $8800 for turbo setup..6 psi tune, No internal upgrades... that would put an r/t at about 240-250 whp.... not really worth it...where you can now put about $4000-$6000 into an SRT4 and have a close to 400 HP car

you have to pay to play! :) I do 90% of my own work so labor wouldn't be a problem. However I already have a project car no need for two lol. Compared to my mustang this engine has acres of room under the hood to be removed which is a plus because my previous vehicle was an 02 Sable and that was a ****ing nightmare to do the water pump and heater core took 4 weekends. there is just enough room to just squeeze in a ratchet and a short socket between the timing cover and the chassis. So the caliber is great seems as though it has plenty of room to do anything. I'll have to admit I am becoming a Mopar fan, i have thought about trading in my pony for the challenger many times but my pony is paid off and the challenger wouldn't be :( maybe some day when im rich!!!

Anyway I apologize for my ramblings, I think you did a great job with your car, I've seen a few videos on youtube.

You wouldn't happen to have looked at a trans for the SRT would you? I'm still trying to findout if an SRT shifter works on a 5-speed. If It does I can get a sweet deal on a 50% reduction shifter.

Was just curious if you'd looked at the two.
Negative sir...Ud have to get the shifter and linkage as well..im going to buy a built trans from Realtune and a South Bend Stage 3 or 5 clutch down the road....the 5 speed with SRT clutch will do me for this season...

From what I've been able to gather, there isn't much diffrence between the two sets of shift linkage/shifters. I know the mounting plates on both shifters are the same, and I know they're both cable operated. What I don't know is if the SRT set has anything else on it that would prevent it from working on a 5-speed trans.

Sorry if I'm rambling, it's been a long day.
