ya i am in the works of getting the srt4 instead right now just hard trying to go through with the banks lol
I know what u mean...my car was taking so long I almost bought a 420hp csrt but couldn't find a cosigner that could get approved...I pay everything off when I buy things so I didn't have enough credit history :-/
 
Ultimate thread necro for the ultimate swap thread! Muhuhahaha!!!

Anyways, I found a wrecked Csrt4 (front end) for a steal. The only two things missing are the hood and the front bumper (due to the crash), but the guy doesn't have the key because of the insurance or something.

There is a different one being parted out near me (blown motor. What a shame...) Anyone know if I could snatch up the ECU/key from the part out, swap it into the wrecked one and make her run?

If so, then I could do the swap into my Calliope! xD

If not, what would I need to run the wrecked one? (Immobilizer, ecu, etc?)
 
After a few short hours of work and a few hours of research, I have come to a few conclusions and I have a few questions...

Before I continue, I will post this as a semi-disclaimer (plus I just typed out a lot and lost it all...)

I am crazy enough to attempt all of what 07TurboRT did, but I have learned a lot from his experiences... And I am significantly more broke... Lol.

I am looking to do this as an interesting project, for a partial sleeper look, and because I believe it would be the cheapest option outside of making payments after trading in my Caliber Sxt for a CSRT4...

Wether I go through with it or not, I am gathering my thoughts here. Feedback would be nice, but I know the forumz are dead compared to how they once were.

On to the results of my research:

My plan involves using the wrecked one as the doner car. The front crash bar is dented, missing the hood, bumper and key.

I also have the part out to pick up any additional parts I may need.

My solution: grab the PCM, key, and ignition switch from the part out. In other words, I would get the entire "skreem/sentry module."

From there, I would swap the components into the doner car. If she lives... On to the next step! If not... Troubleshoot? MS1K?!?!

That being said... If I used 90% of the doner car (ignoring my SXT chassis... We are talking engine, trannny, brakes, etc) and only 10% of the part out (PCM, Key, Skreem), but those parts are in MY SXT... What VIN do I use For MS1K? (assuming the doner car ran after the PCM swap)...

More to come in the future...

Thoughts would be appreciated, but I anticipate answering these questions myself, worst come to worst.
 
Last post for now. In case anyone is thinking about the famous "Just buy a CSRT4 reply," let me give you my price estimate:

$4010. That includes:

The entire doner car.
A high budget for additional parts from the part out.
A VIS full carbon fiber ram air hood for my Caliber SXT (no not the SRT4 hood)!
A Top mount intercooler off a Wrx Sti.
AND MS1K.

*though I may just reroute the stock intercooler to be a top mount... Not sure yet. I have additional Intercooler pipes already.

Ooh! Also, to throw another wrench in the mix... If I up the budget another $1000 (to make it a temporary total of $5010 before other mods) I may get a Supercharger off a Cobalt Ss and Twincharge this beast!

It has been done before on a Caliber Srt4, so it wouldn't be too hard! xD

Can you tell I've got the modding bug?
 
You are also going to need the 6 speed GETRAG gearbox & heavy duty clutch to go with it .Plus you will need SRT4 Front fenders & Hood & front SRT4 sub frames & floor extensions to accomodate the different position of this engine with its oil cooler, A/C condenser & intercooler.........easy!!:doh:
This is old... but couldn't be further from the truth if anyone is searching.
 
hey all...havent been on in a while...recieved my srt4 motor yesterday (6000mi) and the build has begun....going for a full build looking at around a 400-450HP goal (with 50 shot) ill take some pictures of the blown motor once we get it out of the car...and the new motor once we get it stripped down..ill try to keep everyone updated as much as i can :smileup:
