Okay... if anybody cares.
I have an SXT 2.0 engine, CVT trans. stock-only. nothing added or tweaked.

I got 9.90 seconds in 0-60.
I wasn't too impressed...but i bought the vehicle for gas savings and good looks. LOL
:4-looney: . so... by that count...i guess that means i need to leave. Laters....
That sounds very close to my R/T AWD.

Ok, I have a BLACK R/T FWD 5SP :Racing: and I'm looking to add a few mods to it. I already have the K&N Air Intake on it, but I was wondering if the Header that is currently being sold by Mopar would fit the 2.4L engine? Also, where could I get a performance exhaust system with stainless steel piping?

I think the Mopar headers aren't for the 2.4L.

I know Kook's will fab custom headers and exhaust for you, but it's a bit of a drive to get there (for you). That's on my to-do list when work slows up a bit, if ever.

The headders will work with the R/T FWD 2.4L. It will NOT work on the AWD version of the R/T 2.4L. The reason is that the drive shaft changes the exaust path, and they have a different header, down pipe, cat, and complete exaust system. Everything from the block back is different, and none of the parts are inter-changable when you get AWD. You have FWD, therefore all of the Mopar performance parts will fit.

The mopar header and exaust will fit the FWD Caliber. It will NOT fit the AWD because they use a different part from the block down, none of the parts are interchanable. With the 2.4L R/T FWD you have the same header, cat, and exaust system that the other cars have, except for the exaust tip. The Headder will bold to your downpipe which feeds the cat. The place that the header and down pipe meet is a big square piece.

The AWD has a larger diamater downpipe, that narrows, and feeds a smaller cat, which looks more like a resonator at first glance. They change the exaust system on the AWD because of the drive shaft path.

The Mopar cat-back system will fit your car. It has 2 exaust tips though. The Magnaflow FWD system model # 16759 is for the 2.0L FWD, BUT The 1.8L, 2.0L and 2.4L FWD cars all have the same exaust system from the block back. The R/T has a crome tip, otherwise is the same part block to tip, therefore the 16759 for the 2.0L will fit the 1.8L and the 2.4L IF IT IS FWD.

Magnaflow has a 16634 for the R/T 2.4L AWD, which is a different part and is not compatable with any other models, and they have the SRT-4 exaust as well, which I dont know anything about.

Both the Magnaflow and the Mopar exaust are made from stanless steel. I believe another manufacture makes an exaust for the Caliber, but I cannot remember which brand.

I got my G-Tech Pro back from a friends kid who had borrowed it some time back. Last time he borrows anything from me, but that's another story. Anyway, I had a little time to plug it in and play around with the R/T, very little time, but, enough for three zero to sixties and two quarter mile bursts.
So far, and this was with little effort on my part, 32 degrees outside temp. Dead stock 2008 R/T w/CVTII, 210 pounds of goofball at the wheel, just over half tank of QT 87 octane. 4300 or so miles on the clock.
Never once mashed the pedal to the floor.

Best 0-60 8.6 sec.
Second best 0-60 8.9 sec. (in drive)
Best 1/4 mile 16.62 @85.6 mph
Worst 0-60 9 flat (w/AutoStick)
Worst 1/4 17.02 @82 mph (w/AutoStick)

Now, I was just running out to a friends house for a bit and I knew there was a nice flat stretch of less-than-traveled road. If I had more time and an even less less-than-traveled road, I'm sure I could find a peak combo for 0-60 and quarter. Again, this was with little effort on my part to squeeze out a good number, just trying to get an idea of what is there. Sure better than claimed by most "Profesional Drivers/writers... I'll be doing this again as time/weather permits, I want a solid baseline before I go and monkey with this thing. Like sticking a Mopar Performance Cat Back system on it...:D

It wouldnt let me post a new topic on the main board, so ill do it here. Just 2 days ago i picked up my Caliber R/T FWD with a 5 Speed, and i LOVE it! I have read many reviews about the caliber and i noticed that most of the grunting and groaning was directed at the un-responsive auto tranny. So i got the 5spd. Im here to tell you that the 2.4 has alot of umph available! I felt a little guilty smoking the tires off a car with only 5 miles on it, but i just HAD to see if she had the balls that i hoped she had! And she does:) Ok, so it may have been a little wet on the road, but she still lit em up through 3rd gear!, smoke pouring from the wheel wells! I love this car! Is there anyone else out there who got the 5spd????
ive got the 5spd to and i have a buddy with the CVT....the 5spd is much faster in a drag...has a lot more pull topend and
0-60 time is about 1-2seconds faster...around 8-9.5 sec

This will be my first post and I am new to the Caliber and hope that you all could show me the ropes: I just purchased a Dodge Caliber R/T, 6 speed, AWD, and I am loving it, it handles great and compared to my firebird it is proving to be just as fun. I am looking to get a little more horsepower out of the R/T, and wondering if the K&N Cold Air Intake would be a good purchase? Any other tips or products I should get would be appreciated.

The K&N CAI will make the engine rather loud, more than you expect. A high flow exaust will yeald more hp than the CAI.

Thats great to here, I am actually to make it alot louder just because I like that kind of thing, and I am looking around my town for an exhaust to put on it but I will check out the CAI and exhaust you mention, anything else that would allow me to squeeze a bit more HP out of it.

The problem is that it puts the air filter close to the firewall and that puts the intake noise close to the driver.

When I was 16-18 my dad replaced his farm truck with a more reliable streetble Dodge Truck, 440 V8 4barrel carb. He then had the engine over halled, and the previous owner had glas packs on it. I loved the sound, loud very loud. I loved driving by our barn with the mettal siding because it would bounce the sound back to me, and it was AWESOME, in fact I am lookign for some 1970's truck wiht a big block just to put chery bomb glas packs on it for the noise. I loved flooring it and letting off the throddle to hear the back fire.

I also turned over the intake air filter cover to allow more air flow to the air filter and to hear the intake sucking sound of the 400 V8 in the cab.

With that said a high flow intake for the Caliber sounds a lot different. When getting parts for my 4 I was conserned it would sound like the Hondas I see with their strate through exaust cans.

I installed the magnaflow cat back system because it was stainless steel and designed for the car. I wanted headers, but the AWD would not allow for the Mopar headers becaus it uses a different exaust.

I did install the K&N cai because of the heat shield. This heat shield may help but not much. The exaust manafold radiates enough heat in the engine bay that any air filter open to the engine bay will get heat from the exaust. That is partially why I purchased heat blocking sound decreasing dynaliner. This blocked some heat and decreased the loud snowmobile sound the car now had when giving it some throddle.

I then installed a second layer which blocked most of the heat and made the intake sound tollerable. By this time they had rebates, and I needed to replace my wifes car, and found that I could get a Charger with a 250hp V6 for a few hundred more than the equipped Caiber R/T AWD I wanted for her, so I took the Charger, and gave her the Caliber. She is very happy. This promped removeing the CAI because it was to much noise for her.

I installed the factory drop in high flow filter which increases the air flow and gets the majority of it from the outside colder air, plus produces about the same sound as stock, and my 0-60 performance testing with a belltech performance showed no difference between it and the CAI (Not a very scientific test, but all I had)

What I did do was take a lot of videos for youtube. Each step of the way and how it sounds. This gives you an idea. The camera is not that great, and it is a lot louder than it makes it sound with the CAI.

I am NOT putting down the CAI, just warning the sound is not like a V8, is lowder than most like, and even the heat shielded K&N sucks in a lot of hot air.

Watch all my Caliber youtube videos, you can see each step.

Some people post comments on youtube that I dont floor it on each video. The point was to see how it sounds when not flooring it, some people do drive with out wide open throddle 100% of the time.

Albert, the name is billy, and I loved the sound of that magnaflow exhaust and cold air intake, but istead of the K&N I believe that I am going to get a AEM Brute force intake.

This is what I have found so far:
Cold air intake:

Many people have the AEM, it does have the heat shield that K&N has, so it should be comparable

MagnaFlow exhaust:

This is what I have, and is a great price. Highly recommended.

I dont know suspension, but I do think eibach is good.

Tell me what you think please,

Awesome glad to see you agree with a couple of the products, and I have found a couple of other mods im going to make to it.

These are the headlights I want for the Cali:
http://www.octanemotorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=9675

And here are the rims I think will look good on it:
http://www.wheelsnext.com/wheels-tires-packages/Tork-F_15-Black Gloss.html

Just have to figure if I lower the car if those rims and tires will still work without rubbing.

Thanks billy
I have thought about eiboch suspension, but the wife likes it at the current higth, plus I got awd for the winter, and lowering it hurts its snow ability. I only had mine a few weeks and we got the biggest snow of the decade. That is why I dont know much about the lowering part, but I do think eibach makes a good product.

Rims are a matter of tasee and preference. What one likes another wont, so get what you like and dont wrry what others think. They look good to me.

Those headlights look awesome.

Thanks man, and I am tryin to decide on what I want to start doing first, either engine mods or Body mods, I have more body then engine, and I am more partial to the body mods but I am curious as to what will void the warranty if I do anyhting to the engine.

If you have the lifetime drivetrain warranty and you want "no questions" mods, you are limited to:
Mopar performance free flow airfilter
Mopar Performance Cold Air Intake
Mopar Performance cat back duel exhaust system
Mopar Performance header
None of the above will void your warranty as long as you have a Dodge dealer/service center install them.
Anything else can be questioned if not properly installed, although the dealer will have to prove whatever you did caused it to malfunction if it comes down to it.
My attitude is why give them a reason? I got my Mopar Performance cat back system off Ebay for $375 delivered and it cost a hundred bucks to have the dealer install it.

mykTurk, I aapreciate the help, and can the mopar header be put on the RT model?
Yes, the R/T, but NOT the AWD.

The AWD makes use of a different header (a "multiverter" to be exact) wich is different in configuration than regular headers.

The Mopar performance headers exhaust in the center, whereas the AWD multiverter (a hybrid catalytic convert & manifold) exhausts on the side to make room for the center-mounted rear transaxle.
