Hello Friends!

I have a Caliber 2.0 CRD and now I have some troubles with the turbocharger.
Local Dodge dealer tells me prices for new turbocharger of about 4 000 USD which is too much in my opinion.... can You please tell me what type of turbocharger is put in to this engine (make, model)?
Thank You!

I wish I could help you, but they don't offer the CRD here in the States. Maybe one of our European members will have the answer for you.

Welcome to the ForumZ from Italy :wavey: I moved your post to a more appropriate area.
Did you try to ask to another shop/mechanic that it's not the Dodge dealer?

I found this old thread maybe you could find some good info here while waiting for some more informed member (...Aleks where are you? ) http://www.caliberforumz.com/showthread.php?t=26653

Turbo Question

Hi Guys,

i am new to this forum and have enjoyed ownership of my Caliber Sport Diesel from new just under 5 years now. Until last week i have had absolutely no mechanical issues and have had the car serviced regularly in line with the manaufacturers stated intervals. After the last service 2 weeks ago the engine registered a fault with the air flow meter which was then replaced. Whilst driving this past weekend the check engine light came on and i have been told that there is a fault with the turbo.
My question is what is the typical life of the turbo? Mine is 63500 miles old should this be replaced at this stage? Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

You can add your build date - if more did this we could isolate problems like the weld failures. While in your profile fill out the colour too.

If you are willing to join in do a Newbie section intro and explain why you have been flying solo for 5 years!

Not heard of Turbo problems but as they are all the same you can troll for VW/Audi reports.

There was a condition where the turbo went into limp mode but that was a software issue not the turbo. They should have updated your software with servicing but check with your dealer.

My only issue was probably fuel filter related as it has not recurred since replacing it.

Hope i can help.

I stay in scotland and i own a crd caliber.
Have you ever thought of putting the turbo in to get overhauled,It isnt anything like 4g its in the region of £200-£300.

Not sure if you can ask the engineer to do a few tweeks to it so its your own spec turbo

Maybe you can check the vacuum system connections. Mine had the problem of going into limp mode and the fault indicated faulty turbo. Dodge reckoned that the turbo needed replacing. The connection on the accumulator was pulled out and after it was put back, the car ran fine again
