Turn signals on mirrors? Help

737 Views 15 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  AntonMg
How y’all doing. I was scrolling through facebook marketplace when I saw a dude selling this 2011caliber. However there’s only one thing I noticed the most: The sideview mirrors. It seems like he adapted them from another vehicle. I need help knowing what brand these were taken from or if they are universal mirrors? If someone knows, I would really appreciate it!

When I turn the picture around to see the mirror itself, it looks like a factory original mirror:

Since there are no OEM mirrors with lights on any of the Calibers (this is a 2011 Mainstreet), this makes me think the light was added onto the mirror from BlingLights:

You could probably contact them for more info.

*Also, the car in your picture is shown as being in Nigeria. Be careful.

Thanks for your answer, 672aq. Yes, indeed, the man was from Nigeria and I wrote him to see if he could give me any details, yet he didn't understand what I asked him neither he could type in English very well, so I couldn't get any info about the mirrors. I don't think these are from the BlingLights accesories, because the shape of the mirror isn't from an stock caliber. I did some research and after comparing some pictures, I could say those mirrors in that Caliber are from a Toyota Corolla (2009-2012) but I'm not quite sure. I'll be waiting to see if anyone else knows anything about it.

I'm always amazed at what is missing in the US, so you do not already have side repeaters?

So obviously the recommended way.
But it does mean the wiring should be there for the flasher and heated folding side mirrors, if you want to adapt.

The Nigerian does not get me excited. It is not mint so he could have fitted anything available. Does not mean any functions are hooked up.

Yeah Aleks, I’m fogged by those missing functions. Even folding mirrors are not available in the US as standard. I have heated electric mirrors tho… and about the side fender markers, I could get them installed and be way less expensive than the mirrors, but I don’t know, I always liked the look of mirrors lightning up during nighttime. Thanks for your help man.

Hahaha he could use google translator but seemed like he didn’t want to. So, in conclusion, do you think I got it right? I gotta go to a junkyard and find some corollas to measure the mirrors and shape 😮‍💨
Dodge made sure of it by having a different body wiring harnesses for the options each car has so that the owner cannot simply swap or add higher trim level options. And even if the wirings are added, the computer will just freak out with the extra load and say 'NOPE'.

I get so jealous every time when I see a non-NA calibers with all those extra neat features that NA calibers cannot have.

Do you think so? Because i've seen some basic trim calibers around (SE) that didn't come with standard fog lights and them dudes just added big a*s led bars in the grill. I mean, theyre also wiring some extra stuff and it doesn't have to fail. If I add led strips to both mirrors, I don't see why the computer would go crazy. The only time I've ever saw my 2010 SXT go crazy was when I swapped most exterior bulbs with led ones. My cali used to flash like crazy, but after I installed some resistors, the hyperflashing went away. I mean, all I will need to do is to wire the mirrors to the front turn signals.

I installed my own blinkie/flashies before I knew some Calibers already have them (I think 2010 & newer).

I've been wanting to replace my own mirrors with ones from a Jeep Liberty because they're [manually] foldable, are bigger and more square-ish.

But I haven't spent enough time figuring out how I can make them fit.

No need ours come stock with original Jeep Compass mirrors.

If modifying consider approach / puddle lights on the underside, mine are in the bottom of the door.

That’s true. Some time ago I used to think I could install jeep compass (2011-2017) mirrors on my cali so I could have folding mirrors but in the end those just didn’t fit. Then I have 3 choices. 1. See if the Corolla mirrors fit in the cali and do the wiring
2. Drill my actual stock mirrors and add led strips then doing the wiring (most difficult one)
3. Add front fenders markers and wiring.
I get it, the quarter mounting panel is different on the two cars.
The mirrors are (were) supplied to Chrysler US so new ones should be with some parts factors in the US with the Mopar numbers.
Alternately plenty of used originals on eBay.co.uk

Yep, it’s all about trial and error. Right now I’m really onto Corolla and Mirage mirrors. They look like they could fit on the Cali. I need to make some time on my schedule to visit a junkyard.

Thank you for the useful video
