You are right, it's hard to see a difference in the pics, but what is your take on it? Was it worth the effort? was the end result not what you expected? BTW nice job on cleaning your car......that was certainly worth the effort!:)

The verdict is still out. If in two weeks it doesn't develop the whitish mottled appearance, like after everything else I tried, then it will be worth it. It has worked in the past, but this trim has a more porous surface than past trim I've used it on. One thing I found with this porous plastic, is that, as you apply this stuff, use a lightly dampened cloth to evenly blend it. The applicator is like the ones on liquid shoe polish. With the large areas, and the porousness, the coloring soaks in unevenly if you don't use this technique.

So what's the verdict a month and a half later? :)

(noob here) :p
I guess I'm a little late.:wow:After a month and a half I can report that the Forever Black is still keeping the spoiler black. The rest of the trim that I didn't cover, for comparison reasons, looks like crap. I think after it gets washed this weekend it would be a good idea to complete this job.;)

I think I will take a pre-fading strike and get his stuff now .... I have a few marks what look to be rust coloured (probly from the rack it was on at the factory) on the spines of the top of the car...... this stuff will at least keep the black ...black while its on there...

Thanx a ton ...

I've tried everything on the market. The only one that didn't require continuous applications is the Forever Black.;)

Washed the car again today (been about 2 weeks or so since I last did) and got a good look at the trim again. I put the Meguairs trim detailer on there 2 weeks ago and it has DOWNPOURED at least 3 days since then, for the last 4 days the Cali has sat OUTSIDE all night cause I sealed the driveway and wanted to give it PLENTY of time to cure.

The trim was still LOOKING GREAT! I put another coat on anyway cause YOU have me all nervous now.

Warranty On Plastic?

I'll bet this thread gets moved, but I will try asking here to get more exposure.

On my Silver Cali, the black plastic panels/running boards just above the drivers door are beginning to fade. They look almost like the black plastic is oxidizing. My question is, is this type of condition warrantied?

How to prevent it/fix it is under "Trim Fading". Someone earlier took it to the dealer and complained. They were told it was probably "improper care by owner" or something along those lines, and not covered:wow: Hard one to prove and get warranty coverage. Really, couldn't they plead improper care on almost anything. Maybe that's where ForumZ could prove to be a VERY valuable club to belong to. Enough complaints on a specific thing, and it would be hard to fault EVERYONE!

I moved your thread. As you can see from the thread I moved it to, it's a "been there, done that" issue. Best thing for you to do is what I did, get some Forever Black. It will last 2-3 years because it dyes the plastic black.

I wouldn't be surprised if in later years the replacement parts from the dealer will be made with different/better plastic components. SeaDoo did the same thing on a jet ski I once owned. Three years after the ski was built the trim was upgraded to a much heavier and non-porous material.

Hi.....is Anyone Else Having Promblems With There Black Trim Around The Roof, fading , Peeling Or Chipping....i Just Noticed It Today...the Trim On The Back (rear Spoiler ) Is Fading In One Area...its Turning White...i Never Used Wax So It Ain't That & I Used Some Armor All , But That Did'nt Help Either
Thanx....danny
When I was detailing for Nissan we used a product called bumper Black to restore the color to the trim. Maybe you can find that online somewhere - just whipe on like a wax.

I have only had my caliber for a week, so I do not have this problem yet

I'm just going to apply armor-all Detailer once in a while to keep it looking new. This stuff is great for the dash too, because it leaves a natural finish, no high shine.

Turtle Wax Ice looks great for the trim. Waxed my car with it about over a month or two ago and it gave a nice shine to the trim. My car is preowned at 30k now- but the black plastic trim looked ok just matte till I applied the Ice on it.
