I noticed the 1.8 and 2.0 have the same bore and the 2.0 just has a longer stroke... I may sound crazy, but i think you could stroke the 1.8 to a 2.0 pretty easily (with enough money), its just the electronics i wouldn't know how to work out... with a larger bore and long stroke its a 2.4... I wonder if it could go bigger than 2.4L... hmmm... gotta dream big.

The cost of converting the stroke might not be worth the gain. But if you find a donor crashed car (SXTs are plenty) then it could be a nice project.

The 2.4 R/T engine you could probably tweak some more. not the 2.4L in the turbo: we have extra water channels around the chambers and we are sleeved.

The electronics would probably auto-adjust for a 1.8 -> 2.0 conversion. You might need to tweak the plugs but that's about it.

There are probably more worthier mods you could do for the same money though. Intake and exhaust manifold, exhaust, even an intercooler, water-over-air or water injection would give some amount of gain.

Given you have a real transmission, I'm not worried about it.
