What would cause serpentine belts to come apart?

Is it just Autozone crap?

Old and/or heavily worn out, or made out of cheap quality materials.

Not sure what brand Autozone sells, but I would not try to cheap out on a component that can cost a fortune to repair when it fails.

Damaged pulleys and/or worn out tensioner/idler pulleys.

Got it... remove the engine.

Time it took to remove the old parts:
About 3 damn hours.

Time it took to put the new parts in:
About 30 minutes, lol.

All the old pulleys were the same [smaller] size (231161), including the one on the old tensioner. The new upper pulley (231133) was larger overall diameter, maybe an upgrade.

All the old pulleys were worn.

A fairly easy job once you know which size tools to use.
