Rust: is this an exclusive club?

I live in the desert. Why is this here‽

I'm going to spray it all with Rust-Oleum Truck Bed Coating.

I remember why, now...

I had this stored in the freezer for months, uncoated and unprotected from frost giants.

And I forgot to coat it before/after installation.

If you want to spray any kind of rust preventative on your car, use something like Fluid Film or Krown and reapply annually. A "permanent" rust solution like truck bed liner or Ziebart actually makes the situation WORSE as they trap moisture against the very metal you're trying to protect.

I use Rust-Oleum. It stops rust, says so right on the can.
