Hello everyone!

Found 2 other engine oil filters for Caliber:

1. MANN 1030; price was 2,55$ U.S. ( Looks like a Purolator L12222 clone )

2. Bosch Premium 3334 was 4,84$ U.S.

For normally aspirated Calibers, Compass, Patriot.

I've never heard of Mann. Bosch is a well respected name in industrial components, but I've heard some "bad mouthing" of their filters here and there.

For now, I'm sticking with the NAPA / WIX ones that my mechanic uses.

Good Morning Dave,

Yes, i also have the Wix's and they are robust. I always cut them open after service. All the ones that are made in USA where very good. Only one bad; made in Indonesia; the old 84073 from Carquest; the one that was marked "made in Indonesia on top".

The MANN, Bosch & Purolators are practically impossible to find in Canada. The Wix on the other side of the story are easy. We have lots of NAPA & Carquest stores around.

Mann is a European company and they produce very high quality filtration.

This MANN 1030 is made in U.S.A., and i suspect @ the Purolator factory :)

( Also, prices in U.S. are very low for oil filters ! )

Best regards, François

I have used MANN in other cars, Austria I think it was.

Do you think they all make all sizes or is there repackaging involved?

Good question Aleks ... ... umm ...

I know i saw a lot of MANN filters @ the brigade in Quebec city. Our 10 ton truck is from Austria and we "the drivers" do maintenance on them. Especially at the annual technical inspections, most drivers independant of trades, do the air filters, oil change, etc ... For ex: I think the smaller one, the IVECO in wich Radio Ops use a lot, need MANN filters.

I saw a couple of videos on net about MANN but mostly from Europe.
Since i went shopping only for the Caliber, I found this one. Never saw it before for my previous vehicule ( ford focus ).

Maybe this company is trying to set foot in North America with some kind of partnerships ... ( this part number is very well linked to Purolator\Bosch by the looks of it )

I Did not look #'s for other cars. If they expand, we might see them more :)

Indeed, looks like easy repackaging; only a sticker was put on it, instead of ink.
