Looking to see if anyone has gotten an urgent recall notice in the mail recently regarding 2008 Calibers. I got one today and when I called the dealer to inquire as to what the recall was about, all she would tell me is computer update. I vaguely recall getting a notice like this before and it being nothing when I got to the dealer, so I don't know if it's a tactic of theirs to get you in. The car had a new transmission put in in Sept. of last year with computer updates at the time. I could not find anything in the other recall threads so hoping to hear if there is any true computer update later than fall of '09.

Thanks!

I 've got an 08 model and have not seen anything in the mail for any recalls. I'll let you know if I get something. But with 56,000 miles on mine, I doubt that anything is going to happen to it now. I'm hoping that by now any pending problems would have already made themselves noticeable. LOL

I seriously doubt that it's a recall if it's the computer. Recalls are for safety issues, not a simple software update. I suspect your dealer is preying on customer fears in order to get you in there to make money off you. I'd be a little apprehensive to ever use that dealer if that's the kind of crap they pull.

Hi there, haven't heard from you in a while.

To get the straight story, go to dodge.com, then the for owners section. There you will find a place to enter your VIN. After that you will get the straight story, direct from Chrysler.

Also any recall notices I have ever received were in "official looking" envelopes mailed directly from the manufacturer.

Hey, a big thank you to everyone for your great replies! The more I thought about it the more suspicious I got! I got onto the Dodge website (thanks Dave!) and it said there are no recalls in effect for the vehicle and VR 104- no incomplete recall exists. I would have never known about that resource. I will cancel the appointment tomorrow. No wonder they were so accommodating regarding the appointment:i_rolleyes:

Srtforlifemike...sorry for your problems, been there, done that. Interestingly, just got my new auto insurance policy and my comprehensive/collision/mechanical breakdown all went up. When I called them up about it, they explained that they base the premium on the previous year's claims and it depends on the repairs/cost of parts for the particular model of car (did not know that). So I guess that means either there are a lot of repairs on the Caliber or the parts are expensive, or both.

Anyway, I cannnot begin to tell you all how much I appreciate your help and advice when I feel like I am in the deeper end of the pool!

Yeah my problems havent been anything too major... but i'm just pissed at the dealer i bought it from bc they kinda screwed up on some stuff with it and i don't live by that dealer so the dealer by my house deals with my bitching. So far since i got it they've had to put new struts in the front bc they never took the spacers out, replaced my broken center consel, replaced my hood, new shift fork, and a new shifter. this was all within 2 months after i bought it. although i have to say my warranty is amazing!
