The second picture looks like it would be a fun ride. Can't say much for the car though. LOL

The old MG sold because it was somewhat unique, both in appearance and in function. Also, it was English! Judging by the appearance (of the car), it doesn't seem to stand out all that much. Maybe the interior? An English car with non-English-appearing girls? The better the car, the less need for exotic females hanging out by the car (in my opinion). I wish them luck.

Well !! Its not a bad looking car. The only thing that can be guarnteed is that its Chinese build quality will be as bad as the original British build quality. Most MG's were rust buckets!

That doesn't look too bad. Any talk of it making it to our side of the pond?
Unlikely in the near future.

The design was done in England, not sure when. If it was already complete when taken over or if it is a later commision. Judging by some of the accompanying outfits that sounds like a good thing.

The proposal is to build the EU cars in Longbridge.

The Austin site is huge. The MG production is only a small portion of the whole regeneration area. I thought they are assembling TFs there already?

Smooth Radio announced that production of the MG 6 will commence in Birmingham in 2010.

Production of the TF roadster at the automaker's U.K. facility in Longbridge has been delayed until early next year, according to a story in Britain's Birmingham Post. Nanjing officials, who initially targeted a fall launch of the vehicle in the U.K., have produced a number of preproduction TFs at Longbridge, but supply and vehicle testing issues have forced the delay. TF production is underway at Nanjing's Chinese facility. Read more:

MG TF production halted 07 October 2009 autocar

MG Motor is to halt production of the Longbridge-built TF sports car for six months until March next year.

Sales of the TF, the only vehicle now built at the once-massive Longbridge factory in Birmingham, have been modest with only 265 sold during the first nine months of this year, although September has been the best month yet for the revived marque with 65 cars sold.

Newly appointed sales and marketing director Guy Jones says that the low volume TF is ‘batch built’, and that the summer selling season, which runs from March to September, is now over.

Despite introducing a 50-copy limited edition 85th anniversary edition, all of which have been sold, production will not restart until next spring. The small sports car market is down 30 per cent this year and 40 per cent since 2007, adds Jones, who thinks that ‘up to 20’ of the 100-strong vehicle assembly workforce will need to be laid off.
