Well... in order of suggested troubleshooting expense (if it's a CVT);

$) Have a Dodge mechanic check the fluid level again.

$$) Replace the tranny temp sensor.

$$$) Sell the car and buy a Toyota.

$$$$) Replace the transmission.

If it's one of the Constantly Variable Transmissions, it's bee said by a few that it can't be repaired (a throw-away item), and may be better to either get rid of the car, or just replace the transmission.

Personally, I love my Caliber, and would try the cheap ideas or just replace the tranny just to keep the car.

Others would rather buy something else due to their own multitude of Caliber issues (I've had none).

Replacing the tranny is not a DIY job for most members, hence the problem for new owners.
You can check the fluid level yourself - instructions in the knowledge base.
If it does not look and feel new to you (regardless of declarations) you could try changing it again.

Economically for an old car your options are drive it into the ground or trade it for something without a CVT.
