Relatively few 2009-2012 Calibers were exported, I'm looking to see if the ID46 Transponder chip works all Caliber years.


This is a TRANSPONDER KEY.

Calibers have an integrated remote head key. This key is a perfect replacement for your integrated remote key or as your primary key. Once this key is cut and programmed, it will unlock your door (using the keyhole) and it will start your vehicle. It will not interfere with the operation of your existing integrated remote key. The key you receive looks like the one in the picture in this listing.

This key is not available at Wal-Mart or your local hardware show. The key must be programmed to your vehicle. This is a simple process if you already have two existing working keys for the car. I'll include free programming instructions! If you don't have two working keys then you will have to go to the dealer or to a locksmith with the special equipment needed to program these types of keys. This will cost you from $40-$90 to have this done. If you already have two keys then you can program it yourself for free! Your only cost is the price of this keyblank and the cost of getting it cut.

It can be cut by the dealer or a good locksmith for about $2 if you already have the blank. You will save a lot of money if you plan ahead and keep at least three keys, at all times, for your vehicle. I need to point out that if you lose all of your keys and need a new one made for your vehicle then you will have to call a locksmith to come and make a new key. You will pay about $250 when you meet your local TRANSPONDER enabled locksmith and marvel in absolute wonder as you see him create a new High Security Transponder key for your vehicle from scratch in about an hour.

The advantage to all of this is that car thefts have decreased since the introduction of the transponder key system. The disadvantage is that you will pay a lot more for these high security keys. But, with the purchase of this key blank, you'll save some real dollars and you'll PAT yourself on the back for being so smart!

Without a logo you can get a code back up blank for $12 - it's only going to sit in a drawer as insurance (but when I have seen something available with a RAM head I tend to want that!)

To add a key when you already have two:

1) Insert one the programmed transponder keys into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the switch to the "ON" position

2) The key should be in the "ON" position for 5 seconds but not more than 15 seconds. Turn back to the "OFF" position.

3) Within 10 seconds, insert second programmed transponder key into the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. The VTSS ( Vehicle Theft Security System ) or Immobilizer System lamp (depending on model ) should start to flash. An audible tone will indicate the system has entered the " Programming Mode ".

4) Within 45 seconds, turn the switch to the "OFF" position. Insert the new transponder key and turn the switch to the "ON" position. After approx. 10 seconds an audible tone will sound and indicator lamp will illuminate briefly. This will let you know key has been programmed.
