IT was a pain to take off and felt like the whole shifter was gonna snap but my dad pulled and I got a pair of pliers and pulled up and it wasn't as bad as it could've gone.
This new one feels so much better and solid, the old one was cracking and literally falling apart trying to take it off

I guess it depends on the shifter style; this is the one I'm thinking about installing:

My Caliber is an automatic - ignore the dust boot. 😎

The originals ARE a pain to take off! First time I ended up punching myself in the mouth, second time I slammed my elbow into the roof. Stupid things. 😢

I had a heavy wrench pulling from bottom with my dad pulling on top. It could've been way worse with his face and a wrench. But luckily once it popped off we stopped it

It happened to me too. It's good that everything ended well.
