ok... i have seen a few calibers with the plastic engine cover being something other then black... do people paint these to match or do they just come in the color of the car... cause... mine is black... and i would rather it be silver to match the car

The cover on our car is a sort of thin air colour!!!!:jok:
it seems uk market is not exclusive enough to recieve this part as standard anymore!!!:i_rolleyes:

They are all black, any other color is custom painted, like mine.

actually they took em out over here in north america..... theyre available on ebay... or so ive heard

i think they are more of a gray/black and i am willing to swap my cover for EX's if he wants.
i intend to spray mine when the weather turns better, maybe black and as close to chrome as i can get...

what is the best way to paint these

you need to use a plastic primer before you spray
your colour..
before you do that give it a good wash and de-greasing, maybe a little bit of a sand to
give it a key for the paint, i can't advise you of make of paint as we get different types to you here in the UK, but a plastic primer coat..

I wanted the engine cover, mirrors and everything else color matched... the process was easy and all parts came with a factory finish......

i will just spray mine black and silver/chrome, nearest to chrome...
but your engine cover is the est i have seen on here..

mine already match (for right now) car is silver... calipers are silver

Pete the engine cover just pops off, its on plastic suction balls, more or less
in each corner.. do a corner one at a time, a gentle pull..
