I tried to order one from the dealer was a no go!:shakehead:

So I just bought a used one on e-bay, with shipping (was more than I paid for the cover) I'm sure I paid too much  but it was the only one I could find, at least the dealer does have the ball stud mounts for them @ $1 each.

Now to decide how I want to paint it. :Racing:

Engine cover missing?

I just purchased a 2007 Caliber, and noticed in some posted pictures a nice cover on the top of the engine. I have the 2.0, and my Caliber does not have this cover. Is this standard, or is it only on certain models? Any help would be appreciated.

I thought all 2007's came with an engine cover, no matter what model. Engine covers were dropped on everthing but the R/T and SRT4's for 2008. So, I'd say yours SHOULD have one, why it doesn't I can't say.

I bought my 07 SXT brand new and mine did not have the engine cover. I believe they pulled them at some point during the 07 model year run. They can be purchased for a small price from a dealer or might be able to find one on ebay.

They were pulled from all but the R/T in Feb 07.

Now I will add this thread to the existing sticky thread on the same topic.;)

This may be the final word. Went to Allen Mello Dodge in Nashua and tried to order the cover for my 2007 SXT. They printed out this page, and here is the quote.

" The engine cover has been deleted in production for the PM49-Caliber, MK40-Compass, MK74-Patriot on all packages equipped with the 1.8Ls and the 2.0Ls engines. DO NOT order a replacement cover if the vehicle arrives off the hauler with no engine cover and is equipped with a 1.8L or 2.0L engine. This is NOT a shortage or error and is NOT a warrantable repair. The 2.4L high-line vehicles still have the engine cover released. The 2.4l cover should only be used on so equipped vehicles"

At least we now know for sure it is a cost cutting thing and not a over heating thing. If the engine cover was causing over heating, Chrysler would have deleted the engine cover for the 2.4L also.

Now i will keep my 2.0L engine cover on.

I put the engine cover on mine I got off e-bay and I haven't really noticed any dramatic increase in engine temp (with the factory gauges) maybe if it was a digital gauge I might. Course with temps hitting in the 110+ ranges during the day and running the A/C can't see it getting any hotter than it is, and it still not hitting half way on the factory gauge. So yeah was definitely a cost cutting effort on Dodges part as I can see it.

Does anyone know if the engine covers on the Jeep Compass and Patriot (2.4 litre) are the same as the Caliber R/T engine covers? I'm making a set of decals to fit the lettering on the engine cover and was wanting to know what else they'll fit. Pic's to come shortly!

Hi! Mike. A few days before i bought Caliber, i got some of the little dealer sales books. I got two for the Caliber and i got one for the Jeep Compass. I'm looking at the pictures right now. They look just like the Calibers engine covers. Same lettering and everything.

Thanks David, I figured they were the same, but was not 100% sure. I do know they have very different air intakes.
