So I bought my 2008 caliber two months ago. It has a steadily worse grinding and whining noise only while accelerating that the dealership said is likely the cvt transmission. I purchased a powertrain warranty "through mazda". However the policy states it only covers up to the trade in value of the vehicle, so I'm not sure if a transmission repair "replacement" would even be possible, depending on the price. Does anyone know how much it cost to replace the cvt?
Unfortunately, there's no repairing them. I guess JATCO doesn't want anyone to figure out how they work. It's remove the old one, put in a new one. I'd guess from $3,000 up. BUT, that's just a guess.
