Hey.
Wanted to check out the cambelt or timingbelt change intervals and found the internet more confusing than informative.

Pressed the dealer today for the info and the reply was:

150.000 km (90.000 miles) and/or 10 years, whatever comes first.

Thats for the 2.0 CRD engine.

Hope this aint redundant info for you guys.

X your fingers that I'll collect my CRD SXT tomorrow

Online there are many opinions... someone suggest to change it at 100000/130000kms
Don't have my Caliber's service manual here with me now but from what I recall it says 150000kms. Just to be sure I'll check it tomorrow anyway
I wish I could help you, man, but I don't know anything about the CRD engines.
I'll trust the 150.000 km's ... mostly I'm amazed by the 10 years ... :D
Use your Owner's Handbook, the service listing is in the back.
IT IS 120,000 KMs and we have a thread from a member who had it changed.

If you do not have yours then it may be the one listed on eBay

Do you have the DPF engine ?

What is the production date ?
What's a DPF engine?

Don't know what the production date is, but double checked the manual and 150.000 km's it says, so I'll stick to that :)

DPF = Diesel Particulate Filter --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_particulate_filter
Here in Italy it's almost mandatory now, you can't enter in the city center if your car doesn't have it.

You can read the build date of your Caliber on your driver door, there should be a sticker there.

At least in Finland it is 120 000km. The service manual say 120 000, but other manual say 150 000...

In VW and Audi this same engine is always 150 000, even here in Finland.

Just to play safe, I just changed mine at 120 400km. The belt looked good, no cracks of any kind, very little gap in water pump and other bearings. I changed both rollers, WP and the tensioner. All the bolts must be changed also.

With these engines there has been problems with the tensioner bolt, it is very thin. It MUST be replaced and tightened to exact torque, otherwise your engine is gone!

For this reason I recommend to have it done with dealer/or repair shop, since they give a warranty for the job. If you want to do it yourself, just pay extra attention to this tensioner bolt and it will work just fine. If you need guides, I can give some.

It was a lesson learned to check up the intervals, and have a certified workshop do et for me.

Sorry it's an old post but if you have any type of guide that would be great :)
