Few days ago, my Check engine light on my 2007 Caliber SXT popped on. I checked the gas cap and it was on tight. The light stays on, doesn't blink after 15 seconds.

I did the "key dance" to run the diagnostics and there was no code coming up.

Anyone have this problem before, and if so, what was your fix?

Mine came on too and I could get the key dance to work... So I hope someone answers you.

Take it to an Autozone or other parts store and have them read it. The key dance only works with some codes. When you get the code, post it here and I'll look it up in the repair manual and post the fix.

Okay, got it fixed...

Took it to Autozone and they checked it. It was a P0455 error. He looked up and said "you take the gas cap off anytime when the car was on?" and instantly I remembered 2 days ago my girlfriend took my car to the gas station, pulled up to the pump, got out, took the key out, unscrewed the gas cap, then realized that pump was out of order. So she left the cap off, started the car to pull up to another pump. That caused the computer to think a leak had formed.

He said that's usually the most common error for that. He reset it and the light hasn't come on.

But thank you for all support. I hope this may help others in the future.

I'll probably take mine to the dealer. This will be the 4th time it has come on in the last couple weeks.

Prop - I just picked up my car and I got P0456-evap System Small Leak.

A short history on my CELs:
#1 - invalid code or something, *i never got the paperwork so I really have no idea*
#2 - Small Emission Leak - got new gas cap
#3 - Same as above - replaced surge valve
$4 - P0456-evap System Small Leak - ordered a new charcoal cannister (is on backorder)

I think that is all. :strNote I just got the car in March, it has been at the shop more than in my driveway) But I do love the car. :Racing:

Kinda makes you wonder how smart the techs are at you dealer.:doh:

Yes!! Hence why on #4 i brought it to another dealership. Clearly they didn't want my business. :Na_Na_Na_Na:
