Hello Im new here.

I dont know if anyone is here still but i am looking for a tuning program like HP Tuner or something like that for my 2007 Caliber 1.8 5speed Manual.

I am planning on slapping a turbo on it but i need to know what management systems are available for this platform.

I have searched here but have only seen people talking about CVT, 2.0 and 2.4 and not to do it. nothing about the 5 speed other then the legend of
Turbo07RT

anyways all this was 10 years ago. It is 2020

5/10/22- this was not my Daily Driver when I started. But now I drive it like my Daily Driver.

Thank you and hope to get some answer and to also be able to help if possible! I will be updating with my findings as well.

Kind Regards to you all.

I will post Updates below here so you do not have to search all the pages.

Great news. I'll have to do the clutch on my car at some point soon, can you give me your parts list and any thoughts on installation you might have?

1.Spec stage 3 clutch. ( they also have other stages )

2. Duralast clutch

3. ACS

order is from best to worse so far.
I think you can also order the spec clutch from summits racing as well. Also i have noticed no clutch chatter like the duralast and ACS clutch so far!

The installation is simple. it is just 4 bolts to the flex plate i used a breaker bar to break them off first with the housing.

I got to 500 miles and did my first pull today! anddd no slip! no clutch chatter either!

Now i just gotta retune everything because it is all over the place.
Well boys that's it for the 2.4 I think to much spark this time and think I sent a rod threw the block.

Oh this is only the start lol. I may be down for a bit but not out. =)

Ill be looking into the damage a bit later on this month to see what happened. I am thinking it was a bearing or rod that popped. The tune was looking great to my novice eyes. but i think the power was to much for the rods or bearings. Also the junkyard is having a black Friday special coming up soon lol.
How were people [back in the day] able to install turbos, superchargers, blowers, and NOS in cars without destroying them?

Since the Caliber was designed for women drivers, I guess it wasn't really built for heavier shoes?
Cast iron blocks? Plus everything has been pared down for efficiency & cost. Just does what it's supposed to for no longer than economic life.

What now?

Yahh, i will get some pictures sometime in december. The next project path is unknown at this time. I still have hope for the 20g on a n/a motor.

But

i am looking into the srt motor as well..
She just sitting at the moment. Looks like all the oil leaked out finally 😅😅.

I have also just been looking at the logs of the last few drives to gain some understanding. I think I will start tearing it down late january!
So i got the motor out and there is a hole on both sides of the block. The piston is shattered. The timing chain is broken, and rod is bent and bearing is as well. I cant tell what gave first.

How much boost did that?
around 175 kpa. But I was commanding way to much spark. it was high like 25* spark at the max torque area. I should have been aiming for something like 5*. I learned something lol.

On the other note.

Would anyone happen to know what size the oil feed the coolant feed or outlet size is as i am not to sure what size i should be getting. I tried a 3/8 and that was just a little to big to fit. but the two areas are the same size.

Blue = same size fittings but what size.
Red = is this coolant feed or return area as i am not to sure.

Also the SRT 4 clutch will not work with the 5 speed transmission. you will need the 5 speed clutch and plate.

Sorry, me dummy...

Advanced spark timing?

25°?

You were sparking before the piston was even close to TDC?

Why?

How? I thought the spark timing was controlled by the computer.

I run this oil cooler kit on my caliber, it just bolted right in: Universal Oil Cooler Kit, 25-Row

Here is my water coolant setup, this required some welding, plumbing and wiring to make it work, but the result is very good. Our temps never get above middle even when we are doing laps flat out on hot days.

So with HPtuners we can adjust AFR, Spark, cams and much more.

John dose the water pump stuff work with no CEL?

No CEL or other issues from the computer.
