Hi,

This morning my Diesel 2008 Caliber would not start. When I turned on the ignition all lights and radio turned on but no ignition.
The symbol for the glow did not light up! The starter did not turn.
It was seemingly dead but the radio played happy music :(

I found several threads in the forum and we tried them without luck.
Then a Dodge"nerd" gave us a tip.
The routine we followed was almost like I found here in the forum, but not quite.

The thing is that you need to hold the ignition key turned on also when removing the cable from the battery!
Then you leave the cable of for about 20 seconds, and then I had to turn the key and hold it in starting position while my helper put the cable back on to the battery.
Then it just clicked once. We where told to turn it all the way off, and then turn it to start, and if it just made a click repeat. On the third go I think, it finally started :)

I hope this is an understandable explanation, and that it may be of use for others :)

Sounds to me like you need to clean your battery cables and posts. Does the CRD version of the Caliber have just one battery, or two?

It has only one.
But can problems with the battery cause this ?

An update here.
Turns out that the reset we did probably just worked on pure luck.
Because two days later it would not start again, and this time the reset routine did not work.

So I had to get the car towed to a garage and they found that this relay and some connections had rusted away.
I have no idea what this relay does....

So now we are a bite more broke, but the car is up and running again :)

Haven´t figured out how to edit the title of this thread to match the solution...
