2009 base model caliber ( 5 spd 1.8 ) just bought the car 9 days ago. Check engine light came on, had it scanned and said brake switch 2 low voltage. Now my car will not start and I cant get to work. Are these 2 things connected? Will my car not start if the switch is bad ?

If you have the CVT then yes. I'm pretty sure that if the car doesn't detect you pressing the brake while turning the key, it won't start. There's a switch behind the brake pedal that' s probably failed...replace that and you should be good to go.
