Hey just thought I would add a little something to this...

You can decrease your curing time on the paint for the last portion (waiting an hour or so) by using water. Wait about a half hour, and spray cold water across the rims with a garden hose. This will speed the curing time by quick bonding the paint. Make sure you wait at LEAST a half hour before doing this though or you could ruin the top layer of the paint (if you do this, just lightly wet sand, clean, and apply one more coat).

Also, another silly little tip. If you want to get a sparkly look to your black paint color... After your last coat of paint is applied, wait your standard cure time inbetween coats, and lightly "powder coat" another thinly sprayed layer across the top. By this I simply spray sporadically instead of even strokes. When it cures, this will give it a finish similar to having metal filings in the paint (pearlescent).

Hope this gives you guys some new ideas to go on!

Ive been roaming this site for different mods for my plain Pearl White '08 Caliber SE...
This is definatly a must, Im on a low budget and have the stock hub caps so what i was thinking of painting and removing the rust from the rim so it looks new-ish but mostly to keep it from showing as an obvious hub capped rim get me? So yea, after that i want to paint the hub cap but cant figure out if i should spray paint the whole hub cap or tape out the ram or tape out a circle in the center? I like the chromed out middle part of your rims but since the hub caps just have the ram imprint and not a circle around it, im stuck in this dilema:/...
definatly a must do so i could really use some advice=]
im a newbie owner of just 4 months=P
Also looking to do some interior lighting mods if anyone can re-direct me?
things like illuminating leg room, ect...

thanks=]

I have a ? Do i got this right:

I know im going to need to sand/scuff up is 400grit good enough or what should i use to get it to adhere best?

Should i use this?
1 of these Duplicolor CM521 Acetone

I know i need a primer should i use this kind?
1 of these Duplicolor CP199 Adhesion Promoter Primer

Than:
3 of these Duplicolor HWP104 High Performance Wheel Paint
Black

Than:
1 of these Duplicolor HWP103 High Performance Wheel Paint
Clear

Is that what i should use because im looking into getting the stuff soon to do this... I know its gonna be hard because i have the tires on should i deflate them a bit so i can put some newspaper & easier to tape off?

Would not bother deflating the tires. There is a flexible masking tape that works better on curves.

The inside edge of the rim won't be visible.

Did you say what you were painting, steel or alloy?

If rusty or corroded you will need to sand deeper,
If surface you can get away with less prep.

Steel usually have plastic hubcaps.

Other members have just used Black PlastiDip to test if they like that look.
