my question is i bought this dodge caliber and previous owner broke drive shaft...how do i remove it from the front. i unbolt it from the back and in the middle at support bearing but i cant seem to get it to slide out of the front dif any help ?????

07 dodge caliber r/t awd how do u remove the rear drive shaft i unbolted it from the rear dif and the center of the car but cant slide it out the front dif

Without crawling under, I would think these are only bolted on the rear, and just slide in/out on the front.

Dirt and rust might be an issue here, where heat and banging should get it to slide out.

If it's like the CV axles, there is a "clip" on the shaft that gives some resistance when pulling out/in (you'll feel a thump).

so i had time today i heated it up and tap on it with a hammer also put 2 straps on it and trying using them as a puller along with heating it up im stumped also had it in neutral.....do the axles have to be removed? i wouldnt think so but im lost

And for a Dodge Journey:
To remove the center driveshaft:

1. Remove the 3 bolts on the rear driveshaft that connects to the rear viscous coupler.

2. Remove the 8 bolts that connects the driveshaft to the front of the transmission.

3. Remove the carrier bearing holder in the center of the car (2 bolts to remove the heat shield, 2 more bolts to remove the carrier)

4. With a flat head screw driver, pop off the driveshaft from the rear viscous coupler and lower the driveshaft.

5. Tug on the driveshaft from the rear of the car to pop off the driveshaft from the front of the transmission.
