How often when replacing thermostats are they bad from the factory? I just changed mine yesterday and the bottom radiator hose stays cold to the touch, im asking because im more than a little concerned that it could be a faulty water pump. P.s. i also flushed and backflushed the heater core

2008 Dodge Caliber SXT 2.0L I have a leak coming from the rear of the engine on the passenger side. To my knowledge the only thing over there that deals with coolant is the water pump. Would this mean I have a bad water pump or water pump seal (either issue I would replace both of course)?
