www.CaliberForumZ.com August 2009 Member of The Month Contest! Congratulations Turbo07RT!!!! ![]() Hey Guys, So I suppose everyone would like to know how I got started with this little project of mine. Well it all started when I was finishing my first year of university. My S-10 which I had swapped the V6 for a V8 was giving me more problems than I could throw money at at the time. I drove it hard back and forth like a nice new male driver would do to their first car, whether they would admit it or not. I didnt know much about torque and balance and all that....I just threw a 350 V8 in there with changing out the drive shaft rear end and all that. BIG MISTAKE. I slug drive shaft after drive shafter and couldn't figure out why. Finally I said enough is enough. My parents came up with a proposition for me. Their leases were up on there GM cars and they decided to switch to chrysler because the service they were getting with GM was awful. So in order to get a better deal, we traded in My S-10 my moms pontiac G6 GT and my Dads Avalanche Z71 and got Three brand new cars all at once. I think all together it saved us like $10,000. So my dad decided to get a Charger daytona R/T, my mom got a Caliber SXT 5spd, and I got the Caliber R/T. I didnt care if my mom and I had the same cars, because I was done living at home and am rarely there. Plus I had planned to mod my Cali anyway (not to the extent it is now). Six months later...BAM! the SRT-4 arrives....man was I pissed! cause I asked the dealer if they were gunna come out with another model of the SRT-4's and got a big fat no. I was always intrigued with the NSRT-4 but could never afford it. It made me so mad I decided to look at puting a turbo in my R/T to piss all the SRT-4's off..lol...little did I know it would burn a hole in my pocket...but at least I pay insurance for an R/T and not a SRT-4. So after I did a little searching I came across Central Florida Turbo and started doing some background on the shop. after about 4 months and receiving my signing bonus from the Braves after I was drafted, I started the 3 month project. Though the build alone was not all that much..little things I kept adding to the car kept adding up. So all in all...18-20,000 dollars later im sitting with the WORLD'S ONLY TURBO CALIBER R/T pushing near 320 HP now and 330 FT/Lbs torque... I am happy with it but if I knew it would come this far..I might have just bought a Charger SRT-8 lol. thats my story. Thanks for all the votes...hope I can help people with any questions they have! David Francis 2007 Sunburst Orange Caliber R/T Turbo
