    My name is Chad, and I just bought my 2007 Caliber SE a couple of weeks ago. It is a project car that I paid only $500 for. Thanks to this forum, I found that I needed a new throttle body. That was a simple one hour repair. This forum was also helpful in diagnosing my P2004 code (although the intake runner motor was working properly. Instead, my issue was a stuck runner in the manifold itself. I freed that up with some Seafoam, without having to remove it!).

    Things I have fixed on the car so far:

    Front pads and rotors
    Throttle body
    Freed up stuck intake runner with Seafoam

    Things needed to be fixed:

    Rear tires
    Rear crossmember has some rust issues
    Interior is filthy
    Weird whining/stripped gear noise while car is in motion (in drive or neutral)
    Power steering leak

    A few things about me:

    I love almost all music except modern country music.
    I used to own a 1999 Jaguar XJR
    I sell auto parts for a living.
    I'm married and have three sons, ages 11-17.

    I look forward to learning more about this car from the members here, and sharing things that I may learn with others.

    Thank you! I haven't been a member of a forum since I owned my Jaguar. That forum saved me a lot of time, money, and aggravation. I'm sure this forum will be just as helpful!

    Crossmembers had rust issues and had a recall/extended warranty on them that just expired in April of this year. Had mine replace under this due to the rust issues on my 2008 Caliber SXT. The Whirling Noise may be your Belt Tensioner, mine was bad and replaced along with the Alternator, a known problem in the Calibers. Might want to check the Control Arms both front and rear as they are known to go bad too. Had to replace my front ones at 30,000 miles and the rear toe control upper and lower at 75,000. Other than these things mine has been a very reliable car for me, I purchased mine New and have maintained it, coming up in having it for 10 years and it only has 79,000 miles on it.
