Default Dome light not working for driver door only.

Hello all, our base model Caliber, i.e. no power door locks, is not recognizing when the Driver door is open or closed. All other doors are operating and sensing as normal. For example when you open the driver door the dome light does not illuminate and the radio will not ever turn off. The dome light will operate normally with all the other doors opening and closing so it is not that i haven't turned on the control on the stick.

The big question is where is the Door jamb switch? I cannot find it or a description of where it is or how it operates anywhere. I am guessing that the individual door switch is the culprit but cant find it.

Any help with that or an idea of what else to look for?

    Thanks

I haven't owned a Caliber in 7 years and don't remember where the hell the door jamb switch is. I'd check the wiring in the harness between the door and the body. You know, where it comes out of the interior and then through a plastic sleeve and then into the door. Sometimes, wires can break inside that sleeve. Might be just one or two strands still making contact? IDK, I'm not a mechanic. Just throwing out an idea.

You might find that info if you download a manual here on the site. IDK I won't download one, since I don't have a Caliber anymore and don't work on other peoples cars.

Thanks for the help. The wiring harness was fine with no damage to the wires. The problem ended up being in the door. The other end of the wiring harness at the door latch was not secured. Connected the bundle to the door latch and presto, everything is working as it's supposed to.

Happy to know that you got it fixed and that it was a relatively simple thing. Kudos to you!
