First off, I'm not representing any vendor here. I have, for many years, been using synthetic oil in my cars. I have used it since my '79 Toyota Celica GT. I don't remember the brand, I just know I purchased it from Farm & Fleet. I put 192,000 miles on that car. I have been for nearly 15 years using Castrol Syntec. My concern with Syntec is that for several years now it hasn't been truly a fully synthetic oil. It's base stock is made from fossil oil with synthetic additives.
I was going to stay with the Syntec for the Caliber, but decided to research synthetics to see what was available. Surely with all the improvements in oil there must be some interesting synthetics out there. What I found were only three truly synthetic motor oils:
Amsoil
Royal Purple
Lucas
Has anybody else used any of these oils?

I used royal purple in my Cobalt SS 2.4L and it felt a little better than my usaual...but it's expensive and my ex got it for me as a present so i never purchased it with the intent to use it regularly. Although im thinking about using every other oil change to kinda mix it up and clean my engine a little more with the different additives. Good luck:Racing:

I have to admit that based on my research; I decided to go with the Royal Purple. I was just hoping to get input that supported my decision. I managed to find it on the internet for $5.99 a quart with free shipping. Pepboys is selling it for $7.29 per quart. I couldn't pass up a deal like that.
I read a bunch of independent tests that showed it to be a first rate oil. Increased hp, torque, mpg, reduced wear, and emissions. All the synthetics do that, but Royal Purple appears do do it better. We shall see what happens.
