Supply will definitely not meet demand at first. Finding a base model of a SRT4 will probably not even be offered. You will have to order it.

I'd say the mazda 3 speed would definitely be one.

The SRT4's engine is more powerful then the Mazda Speed 3 and the Eclipse V6. I can not wait till the magazines start doing comparisons between the vehicles. After the SRT4 beats them; 300s and chargers will be next.:D

HP doesn't mean everything, it's torque and power to weight ratio that will be the deciding factor. I found that the Mazda could do 5.8-second 0-to-60 time and a 14.4-second quarter-mile at 99 mph. I'm sure the Caliber is around the same, as well as the WRX. My guess would be a tight race for all 3, boiling down to who is the best driver.:Racing:

true...and also look what chrysler themselves said about the comparison of the Caliber srt4 and the neon srt4. The caliber has more HP, but performance wise, they are pretty equal

Remember bang for a buck will also be a factor in the deciding votes also.

Yup, the neon was lighter than the Caliber. Gearing, and type of transmission plays huge role too.

according to everything i read the caliber srt4 is losing to all its competitors. the braking distance is the lowest, the car is heavy... so thats why its losing 1/4 times... and it doesnt corner well since there is so much budy roll.
it is still going to be a badass car none the less.... but its still not beating out the competitition.

probably till the 2009 models come out along with stage kits for the 08's. I seriously have a feeling that the SRT folks arent even close to being done with the true potential. Think about it...its all marketing. Alot of first gen SRT4 buyers bought more than one! Look at what debuting the new SRT4 later has caused...People with calibers now are going to trade their cars in on the SRT4

My wife might not go for letting me trade in my R/T for an SRT4. But, I'm going to offer to trade even stevens with my wife, my R/T AWD for her 1998 Isuzu Trooper. Then when she goes for it, I'll quietly and quickly sell the Trooper and buy myself an SRT4. Hehehe!:b1:

I LIKE IT. Put a Twin Turbo Hemi in a Caliber. I think you've given the SRT team a new goal.:worshippy:

Don't know about fitting in a Hemi in there, but I'm sure they could have found a way to squeeze in their 3.5 L HO V6 and then turbo or supercharge it. In fact, make it a rear wheel drive and the torque steer issue goes away.

It's only a dream, but imagine the look on someone's face when they hear the rumble of a V8, in a car that is supposed to be a 4 cyl.:wow:

hey back in 94 my friend bought a miata with a blown up engine and dropped a 5.0 out of a 91 mustang in it......surprisingly, it fit like it was supposed to be there. that car was just more than words can even describe.

I see no reason not to try and squeeze a Hemi in a Caliber. If dodge wants to sell me another one soon, that's the only way I'd buy one, either a V6 or V8 dropped in there. I just don't like the idea of a high HP 4 cyl.

For right now the 2.4l is the more powerful then any V6 or V8 engine when comparing horsepower per liter that Dodge sells.
2.7 DOHC V6 70.37 HP/Liter
3.5 HO V6 71.43 HP/Liter
5.7 Hemi V8 61.40 HP/Liter
6.1 Hemi V8 69.67 HP/Liter
2.4 DOHC I4 72.08 HP/Liter
2.4 Turbo 118.7 HP/Liter

No engine ever made sounds as good as the V8 with duel exhaust when idling or when you stomp it. Well the Viper's V10 maybe sounds better.

I have dual Corsa cat backs with high flow cats, and Kooks headers....on top of that i have badlandz exhaust cutouts.....Viper has nothing on me!!!!:D
I think the SRT4 is going to be a bada$$ ride.....once the stage kits come out this car will fly. then you just add a strut bar, hotchikis sways, and coilovers and you will be styling, flying, and turning!!!:Racing:

When the SRT4 hits the streets we will start a Kill Thread.
a caliber with a v8 that would be awesome it would be like a mini durango... im pretty sure it would hold a v-8. But i dont no how well it would preform...
this is what happens when you put a v8 in an evo

That is sick!! just confirms the fact that a V8 might fit in the Caliber, so why not just do it!!!

If you look carefully, that Evo was substantially modified. The engine compartment is no original as the front grill seems to have been pushed forward. You can see the radiator in front of the chassis and the hood being custom to accomodate the larger engine size and the turbo assembly.
Also, you can see it's a propulsion drive, which the Evo is not.
I wouldn't count on putting a V8 in a Caliber w/o substantially cash influx. Not like your Saudi and full of cash to burn.
Save your time and efforts and either get the SRT4 or trade up to a real performance car.

that is beyond sick...although from watching the daylight run...that just proves all that power is an absolute waste if you cant get the car to lock up....I would bet that a stock EVO, or WRX, or SRT4 would smoke that car off the line just because they cant seem to get the power to pavement on that car! For the money spent on that, including the car they may have well just have gone and bought a new corvette. IMO...its a "novelty", and nothing more.

Absolutely true, but I'm willing to bet that they weren't trying for the best track times, they wanted to roast the tires every time. For all we know they were running regular tires. Give that bad boy some slicks, then drive it correctly and it's going to lock-up.;)

Back to the "Who wants an SRT?" I do but am struggling with the choice of color. I like black, and I like orange, but I would love to see the 4 colors of choice in real life on an SRT4. Cannot wait forever to decide.
