What is the point in the air duct on the intake/battery cover? Do you need it, can it come off?

You answer your own question, its the air duct intake. It helps to feed cooler air to to the air intake. Leave it on.

This "mod" hasnt been proven to gain anything but NOISE yet. So do it if ya like.

I wasnt thinking about taking it off, I was just wandering what it there for. If want some power, Im not gonna waste my time of little things that give me like.5 hp, pointless

I took it off just to see and it did nothing, so i put it back on.
