I've been in 4x4's for the past 20+ years as my daily driver. With room to spare, this is my basic carry kit thats in the truck at all times contents (http://www.geocities.com/x_canuk/contents.html) (I've used everything)
Now that the caliber will be my 2nd driver, I want to start up a second kit. Just wondering what the rest of you carry for emergencies and what-not.
So far, this is my new list
Sockets + muti-tool
Mag-light
Jumpers, spare fuses
I have a tendency to get carried away with my boy scout attitude.

wow.. you're prepaired for the end of the world man... :) I have jumper cables, a portable air pump, a knife, a flashlight, a screw driver, a louisville slugger (just in case), an extra set of warm clothing, and first aid kit. Not nearly as prepaired as you, but i think i'll be ok.

Have Cell Phone, Will Travel.
Seriously, I keep a beefy old T-bar in case I need it or for good samaritan reasons. Used to keep a 10 million candle power emergency light too, but my Caliber has less room, so that's now in the garage for home emergencies. (Like a car headlight to go, 12 V sealed lead acid battery)... and now I have that nifty mini light built in to the Cali. Some multi vitamins in the console box. And 4 water bottles in the chill zone. In Europe, it is mandatory to have a reflective triangle, road flares, and a few other bits of kit. I'd like to pick up one of those packages and stow it for emergencies. Oh, and bug spray, like 110% pure deet, bought it from an army navy store. Definitely good to have on hand. Now that I think about it, I have a nice heavy duty tarp stowed in the back, just in case. L8r.

Oh, lets see...
Firstaid kit
Emergency tools w/ fuses
Recovery strap
Jumper cables
and when I find a good place to mount it-a Fire extinguisher.
When traveling I add:
Blanket
spare water
spare coolant
spare oil
And I always have my custom made Northern Wisconsin Maple cane with California Black Walnut hand knob that doubles as a defensive weapon.;)

Now we're talkin'... 45cal SigSauer, blackjack :nunu: and scorpion flashlight in the little "map" pocket in drivers door, blanket, jumpers, full length rain coat, maps, road flairs, water, and a few other things i'd rather not mention. Oh, and an extra baseball hat. Just in case. :D

Wow! Now I see why my gas mileage is better than some people are getting here! I carry fewer steel tools.

I finally started my new tool kit, but couldn't find a good place to store it all. Lo and behold, there's a hell of alot of space under the front seats. Used a medium sized laptop bag I had hanging around, and fits under like a glove. You barely see it (except for the handle) no lost storage space.
