Hey,

Just got a quick question.... This may also be in a wrong section.. (don't get mad at me:str:)

My caliber seems to not grip well in wet weather; the wheels continually spin at every intersection or corner i turn into, even if i just put my foot down a little bit! :wow:

I've never experienced it with my other two cars, and they where Toyotas.

My tires are practically brand new also.

Are they meant to handle well in different conditions? Or are they known for driving not so well in different conditions.

- Chloee :)

your caliber prolly have more torque than your yotas....i also fine like dodge caravan to spin their tires very easily....so its nothing major, just ease into the gas next time.

Thanks, but thats what i'm trying to get across.. i don't even have to put alot of pressure and they just spin..

There also pretty expensive tires, thats why i'm thinking.. maybe its prone to just happen to cars that size???

I've spoken with my mechanic and he thinks its odd also. But he doesn't have alot of history on dodges.

Chloee, do you still have the factory tires and rims still on the car? Lighter weight aftermarket wheels will allow the tires to lose their grip on accelleration.
I'm not sure what rubber was shipped on the Calibers shipped Down Under but the cheap, hard as a rock
Firestones on the North American models are designed with only one thing in mind, fuel economy, not traction.
A good set of 'H' rated or higher performance tires on the car will inprove the handling 100%

Mine has Dunlops from the factory and I haven't had that problem at all. It will spin the tires if I punch it, but not with normal acceleration.

are the roads in austiralia made with black top? maybe that mix with rain=no traction

Might your tires have too much pressure in them? New cars are shipped with high pressure. Dealers are supposed to lower the pressures, but sometimes forget to drop the pressures.

My Firestones have been OK so far in the little bit of wet I've driven in so far waiting for a good monsoon shower to really test them. One thing for sure once it is time for tires I'm switching to my trusted Goodyear/Kelly Springfield tires I'm not enthused with Firestone/Bridgestone.

Do you notice it more at the beginning of a rain storm or all the way through it. The first 30 minutes of any rain makes most roads extra slick as oil etc rises to the surface. It will stay that way until the rain and traffic washes it away.

Could be a combo of improper tire inflation, and a harder tire like shockjock said. Do you have the CVT, or the 5 speed transmission?

all our roads are bitumen or asphalt

Hmmm might be high pressure.. ill check it out!

its mostly as soon as the roads are wet! just no pressure at all and it skids

I have the same car as you over here in UK. No probs on take-off , never have had this problem.I recently has Pirrelli Scorpions fitted at the front & use 33 psi all round.Try the throttle computer re-set trick ( try the search button on top of page) you may have an oversensitive or sticky accellerator.

which tires are on ur cali? i need names.

the CVT+Tires can do this in the snow over here, which im sure you know nothing about....but if ur running all seasons... youre only getting Ok performance for both dry and wet conditions.
