I've been on this forum for a while now and after seeing so many topics discussed i became curious about what people were driving before they got their Caliber.
I traded a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon for mine. Biggest reason was i needed more room to "taxi" teenagers around. lol I spent a year looking and when i stumbled across the Caliber i knew it had everything i was looking for.
2005 caravan se(sold)
1999 cavalier(engine fire)
2007 impala 9c1(sold)
2012 cruze lt turbo
2008 caliber sxt(winter car)
currently drive the last two, but the caliber is better in the snow.
I drove a 02 Chevy Lumina, but I really never considered it my car. Was Really dads. The car I OWNED before the Caliber was either a 94 or 96 (can't remember) Dodge Shadow. I loved that car. Although i very much miss my 74 and 86 Monte Carlos. Should have never got rid of the '74.
I drove a 2004 Ford Taurus. It had constant maintenance problems, with rotor wear, pad wear, and of course, suspension parts. It was serviceable transportation, but just barely. I had a Chrysler Cirrus with the mitsu v6 before that, which I truly enjoyed.
2004-2014 - 1990 Nissan 240 SX (inherited in 1998 from my late dad)
1990-2004 - 1990 Plymouth Grand Voyager (305,000 miles at the end)
1984-2004 - 1984 Plymouth Voyager LE (290,000 miles at the end)
1983-1984 - 1983 Plymouth Turismo (Wrecked it whilst fighting with an ex-girlfriend)
1981-1983 - 1981 Plymouth Horizon (Totaled in a head-on when somebody came across the centerline)
1979-1988 - 1971 Plymouth Duster (laugh if you will, but it was fun and my first car)
1984-1987 - 1969 Dodge Dart convertible (Spectacular lines and great on back roads)
A word on the overlap: Yes, at one point I had 3 cars registered and drivable at the same time. Except for the time when Murphy intervened and all 3 were broken down or in the shop for something.
I especially miss the convertible. With the top down one had perfect 360 degree visibility obscured only by the windscreen pillars; the top deck from bonnet to boot was table flat and level -- a truly sharp machine.
I suppose you could say that I'm a MOPAR boy pretty much through-and-through. It's sad that Chrysler jettisoned the Plymouth marque.
